About the Neonatal Unit 
The Caboolture Neonatal Unit (NNU) is located within Maternity Services, it is in close proximity to the Birthing Suite and the Operating Theatres. It has a 12 cot capacity, this capacity will increase to 15 cots after the redevelopment of the unit. The NNU is a Level 4 facility (Clinical Service Capability Framework), that cares for newborns from 32 weeks gestation or greater. It supports continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and an estimated birth weight 1550gms or greater. The NNU accepts transfers of infants of any weight or gestational age from a tertiary service when infants are considered stable by that service.

About the role
Opportunity to provide contemporary evidence based consumer/patient focused care, in collaboration with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate optimal health outcomes for the recipients of healthcare services and undertake delegated activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.

Mandatory qualifications/professional registration/other requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Whilst not mandatory, possession of a relevant post graduate qualification (i.e. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters Degree) or evidence of enrolment in such a program would be desirable.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment:           
    • Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella (chicken pox)
    • Pertussis (whooping cough)
    • Hepatitis B Tuberculosis
