Julia began her academic career with a Bachelor of Science, before moving into a Master of Nursing Practice, with a strong desire to improve clinical practice through rigorous and culturally informed research. She is supported by Dr Deborah Harris, neonatal nurse practitioner and senior academic, whose PhD project revolutionised the clinical management of neonatal hypoglycaemia. 

While evidence-based changes have significantly improved neonatal hypoglycaemia management in well-resourced settings worldwide, the translation of these advancements to lower-resourced environments remains largely unexplored. To address this potential gap in knowledge, our team conducted an electronic survey in April 2023 to understand the current management practices in the Pacific Islands. This research developed opportunities for whanaungatanga and identified opportunities for meaningful collaborations."
