How to become a neonatal nurse in Australia

  1. Undertake a Bachelor of Nursing and/or midwifery training program
  2. Gain registration to practice in Australia with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  3. Undertaking a postgraduate certificate specilising in neonatal nursing

Contact hospitals in your area/city who have a neonatal unit and ask how they manage their recruitment and training for neonatal nurses

Each state and territory has different requirements, so please enquire at your local level, and you may also need to gain employment in a neonatal unit prior to being able to enrole in a postgraduate certificate
